Hi there,

I have this issue where I have several HDD's as network shared drives on another PC in my network. When I access the folders through explorer like this:

"\\PC-NAME\Drive\Folder\File.mkv"

I can open the file, but when I mount that location to a drive like this:

"M:\Folder\File.mkv"

PotPlayer says it can't open the file ( even though it's accessable through Windows Explorer )

This used to work for as long as I can remember, but since a couple of weeks now, I noticed that it didn't work anymore. Any suggestions?

Thanks! And keep up the good work :D!

Gr,

Arthesian

I tried and it just works for me.
Always try the latest beta version (x32 only) before continuing a discussion here.
This is NOT official support though. It is my contribution to Potplayer.

1) What OS on your local computer and remote computer?
2) Have you tried latest beta version of PotPlayer?
3) Can you copy the files to your local computer?
4) Have you tried different player?
5) Have you tried open the files from files menu of the player?
6) Do you use NTFS junctions or hardlinks on your network drive?
7) Have you tried run player with administrative rights?

Sorry for the late reply -- but I still have the same issue.

1 - Both computers run Windows 10 Pro 64bit. ( Host and Client ).
2 - Probably not, I currently use v 1.7.3344**
3 - Yes, I can copy the files to the local computer....but that would beat the purpose of having a file server.
4 - When I drag-and-drop a media file into WMP for example, it automatically maps the drive to the network location.
IE. When I drop "Y:\Movies\<some movie>.mkv" into WMP, it says the current file location is "\\server\Movies\<some movie>.mkv" ( and it plays correctly )
5 - When I open a file from the menu, network connected drives do not show up in the explorer window ( at ''this pc'' ). If I navigate to the network folder instead ( "\\server\" ) I can open the file.
6 - Not that I know of...at least not on purpose xD Idk what they are
7 - Yes. I have.

**2 - I downloaded the latest beta ( 1.7.3424 ) ; didn't help
