i tried version [200730] hoping there would not be the popup, but Still got it 2 minutes ago.

i think the safest bet is to go back to when the ads where during the install process.

Not all users have the popup ad, I don't have any either, using just Windows 10 2004 64-bit and Defender.

We don't know why, possibly it's country dependent, because in older versions only users from Asia had it, now it's also US/EU countries, but not all - of course it could be something else. Some info is in other posts of this topic.

Safe version without popup ad and without install ad is 1.7.18958 64-bit..

yeah I tried with PotPlayerSetup64-1.7.19955-ads.exe and it already has the pop, the previous version is the non-ad version.

with the versions from 2019 [ads or not] I can't play some youtube videos, by drag and drop of the URL, like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfxgB0_IUoI
So i copy the folder ExtenSion folder form the new version to the folder ExtenTion [change of names, to correct the typo] and now it works.

All that stuff about the pop up is annoying...

I did a little research and it seems like it's a fake Russian or Ukrainian website, and I found a safer alternative: https://www.videohelp.com/software/PotP ... d-versions

Does anyone know how I can prevent updates now?

Disabled it in Preferences / General / Auto check for, and choose Never.

Version 1.7.18958 64 bit, I cant get that to work in either version, whether I use the name ExtenSion or ExtenTion,

You said "some youtube videos". Can you suggest one that works without the change of folders?

i dont remember which YT videos were playing with the old extenSion.
The change of the name of the folder is not the trick. The trick is to update the YT modules by Potplayer, so you unzip the official newest version of PP, then you copy the content of the Extention folder of the newest version into the content of the old folder ExtenSion of the non-ad Version 1.7.18958 64 bit

I suggest also to update the Module folder of the non-ad version, ie the Opencodec modules viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21112

So how to get rid of this? If there is no way other than blocking IE, what's the latest version without it?
