Hi, This is a Windows 10 issue, but I have tried a Windows 10 forum with no success, nor can I find anything on Google:

I have installed PotPlayer on my Win 10 machine. Everything is fine except for one irritation: when I use Explorer to list all the devices on my machine and then Left-Double-Click on the CD/DVD player, Windows Media Player pops up to play the CD. I just want PotPlayer to appear instead.

If I click on an audio file (instead of the device), everything is fine.

Has anyone any idea about this?

Did you enable auto-play feature for DVD drive in preferences - file association section?

This is NOT official support though. It is my contribution to Potplayer.

Yes, Auto Play works as I expected - PotPlayer is used. It is just the double-click on the drive itself within Windows Explorer that brings up WMP.

Could you export the following registry item and leave it here?
"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVD"

There is something I need to confirm.

Run regedit in winkey + R dialog, copy & paste "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVD" (without quotation) in regedit and enter to jump to the item position. Then right click on DVD item in left tree panel, export and leave it here.

I tried to attach the exported portion of the registry, but couldn't find out how to attach it, so I have just cut and pasted it as text. I hope that it is OK for you.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVD]
"BaseClass"="Drive"
@="DVD"
"EditFlags"=hex:02,00,10,00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVD\DefaultIcon]
@=hex(2):73,00,68,00,65,00,6c,00,6c,00,33,00,32,00,2e,00,64,00,6c,00,6c,00,2c,\
00,34,00,30,00,00,00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVD\shell]
@="Open"

Did you paste everything? If not, please paste everything under "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVD".

Yes, I pasted everything from the export. I have now got regedit open and this is what I see
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVD
DVD
| DefaultIcon
| shell

With cursor at the left, on DVD, on the RH window I see
(Default) REG_SZ DVD
BaseClass REG_SZ Drive
EditFlags REG_BINARY 02 00 10 00

With cursor at the left, on DefaultIcon , on the RH window I see
(Default) REG_EXPAND_SZ shell32.dll,40

With cursor at the left, on shell, on the RH window I see
(default) REG_SZ Open

Potplayer seems not to be correctly associated with DVD autoplay.

Anyway, you need to download Potplayer again, install and reassociate it with DVD autoplay.

There was a small fix and silently updated today.
