I think it's not just about player, it's also about decoders and so on, so it would be very complicated and there are not enough Linux users who would pay for it - most Linux users use Linux because it's free.

... You could use Opengl for the video renderer and alsa for the audio renderer. I know MPC has a linux version. https://github.com/cmdrkotori/mpc-qt I think the other issue will be the Freeware licence.
